"Lazarus" McCain has come back from the dead and the consevative know-it-alls don't like it one bit. Late last Summer, everyone was throwing dirt on John McCain. He couldn't raise money and didn't have a shot at the White House. Fast forward to today, and he's the Republican front-runner after Giuliani realized that all of America is not New York City and Fred Thompson realized he's been dead for eight years. Of course, Mitt Romney's still trying to buy the White House but McCain looks like the potential nominee.
Now, it's unlikely I'll vote for any Republican candidate but what I'm really enjoying about McCain's surge is how it is infuriating to the far right conservatives like Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter, and Rush Limbaugh. They've all been bashing McCain left and right, no pun intended. These morons are practically having seizures over the fact that McCain isn't "conservative enough."
Hmm. Maybe, just maybe, what these people are realizing is that their extreme views really don't represent the view of most Americans. These folks have made themselves plenty of money and become quasi-celebrities by acting as though they're just a bit smarter than everyone else in the room. They like to act as though they are the voice of reason and they get infuriating when they can't understand how someone can possibly disagree with their opinions.
Well, it looks like the majority of Americans disagree. Maybe McCain isn't conservative enough. And maybe that's why he's getting a lot of votes. In many ways, Americans can be pretty ignorant in their choice of candidates. I still think the overwhelming support of Obama by the black community is baffling given how little we know about the man. Still, I think one thing is clear. People in this country are sick of people who are extremists on either end of the spectrum. We're tired of people telling us what we should think and how we should behave. We want our politicians to work together and come up with real solutions for the country. We don't want people to make us feel bad for using plastic grocery bags or brainwashing us into thinking that some people don't deserve health care.
Typically when you hear people screaming the loudest, it is because they are losing power. The Limbaughs, Coulters, and Ingrahams of the world are upset because it has become apparent how out of touch they are with the desires of the mainstream citizenry. Good. I've had enough of people earning a fortune by stoking the flames of divisiveness in our country. McCain has demonstrated a willingness and ability to work with Democrats as well as Republicans to get things done. That doesn't mean he's always right but maybe that's the point (pun intended).

Ah, that's it. So true. The cool thing is that clearly, McCain doesn't give a rat's ass about what Ann Coulter thinks. And, well, neither do most people. She' just figuring that out, I guess.
This was a fun post. Thanks for being one of my personal fave pundits.
