Brian Setzer

I was going to write a different post but I got sidetracked watching Brian Setzer on You Tube. I noodle around on the guitar and while I personally suck at it, I do apprecaite people who are good. I have music from various people who I think are absolute guitar greats including Van Halen, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, Trevor Rabin, Tony MacAlpine, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Vinnie Moore, Stanley Jordan, and a bunch of others.

Taking nothing away from any of those guys, Brian setzer is without a doubt my favorite guitar player. He is technically amazing but I love that he plays his own style of music. While he easily has the skill to play more mainstream stuff that could be more commercially successful, he's always stayed true to the kind of music he loves. I suppose all the people listed above have done that but Brian Setzer is more underrated than any of those people. He's well-respected by other guitarists but most of the public doesn't know much about him, save for the short period when swing music made a comeback. Click the following link to watch Mr. Setzer all by himself playing "Sleepwalk" for an instructional DVD. His tone and right hand technique are just great. Simply amazing.
