Exhausted in the Capitol City

Well, I'm in DC for the next few days. I arrived last night at around 5pm and was given a room in the hotel that had not been cleaned. Nice. Also, it was a handicapped room so there was no tub, just a fold down bench of sorts. Nice. So, they switched me to a room that I actually have to walk outside to get to. My room is the only one tucked away in a little dark alley or, as the hotel would probably call it, a charming alcove.

I got to our DC office at 8:15am after a $10 cab ride from Georgetown. As I type this, I just got off a phone call with our New York office that looks like it is going to necessitate me doing training with people from Israel on Thanksgiving. Nice.

I was going to maybe check out some monuments tonight but I'm wiped out. It's amazing how even non-physical work an just completely exhaust you. Maybe I'll feel a bit better after dinner but more than likely I'm just going to veg out. Oh well, off to the bus...

Ugh. Travel, and travel nightmares like a bad hotel, can pretty much eat up any energy one has for making the most of a business trip. And what is so damn important that you have to work ON Thanksgiving? That just seems a little ridiculous. And I'm sorry. So much for holiday spirit. What you need is the kind of holiday spirit dressed with an olive in a funky glass.

Cheers,
